Welcome to UK4Jobs ("we", "us", "our"). These Terms & Conditions govern your use of our websites, products and services, including the job board for Employers/Candidates and the trades marketplace for Homeowners/Traders (together, the "Platform"). By accessing or using the Platform you agree to these Terms.
1. Definitions
- Employer: a business or person posting jobs or managing applications.
- Candidate: a person creating a profile, uploading a CV or applying for jobs.
- Homeowner: a person posting a home project or request for quotes.
- Trader: a tradesperson or business responding to home projects or advertising services.
- Member: any user with a paid subscription/plan (via GoCardless).
- Content: any text, images, documents (e.g., CVs), listings, ratings, or messages you submit.
2. Using our services
- You must be at least 18 and able to form a binding contract. You're responsible for the security of your account.
- You agree not to misuse the Platform, including (without limitation): posting unlawful, misleading, or discriminatory content; spamming; scraping; interfering with site security; infringing rights; or attempting to bypass fees.
- We are an online platform. We are not a party to contracts between Employers & Candidates or between Homeowners & Traders, and we do not guarantee hires, engagements, work quality or outcomes.
- Verification badges and reviews are informational only. Reasonable checks may be carried out, but we do not warrant identity, qualifications, insurance or compliance. You must perform your own due diligence.
- We may moderate, edit or remove Content that breaches these Terms, and we may suspend or terminate accounts for non-compliance.
- We may change or discontinue features, run maintenance windows, and update these Terms from time to time.
3. Listings & applications
Employers & Candidates
- Employers must post accurate job information and comply with applicable employment laws and the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003 (where applicable). Do not request unlawful information or fees from Candidates.
- Candidates must provide truthful details and ensure any CV or profile is your own work and does not infringe third-party rights.
- We may set expiry dates on listings and limits on the number of posts, views or applications.
Homeowners & Traders
- Homeowners must describe the project accurately and act fairly in communications and awards.
- Traders must ensure they have appropriate skills, qualifications, insurance and legal permissions for the work they undertake.
- Any contract, pricing, timing and payment terms are agreed directly between the Homeowner and Trader.
4. Payment & billing (memberships)
- Paid plans (e.g., Employer or Trader memberships) are billed via GoCardless. By subscribing you authorise GoCardless to collect payments according to your chosen plan. Your use of GoCardless is also governed by their terms and the Direct Debit Guarantee.
- Auto-renewal: Plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time via your account/billing portal. Access continues until the end of the paid period.
- Pricing: Fees may vary by plan and promotional period. Current and future prices are shown on the Pricing page. Taxes may apply.
- Failed payments: We may suspend or downgrade access until payment is completed.
- Refunds: Unless stated otherwise by law or in a specific promotion, fees are non-refundable once the billing period has started. If you are a UK consumer purchasing a non-business plan, you may have a 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations. If you ask us to start the service immediately, you may be charged a proportionate amount, or lose the right once the service is fully supplied.
5. Intellectual property & licence
- The Platform and its contents are protected by intellectual-property laws. All rights reserved by us and our licensors.
- You retain ownership of the Content you upload. You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, reproduce, adapt, aggregate, index, and distribute your Content for the purpose of operating, promoting and improving the Platform. You warrant you have all rights necessary to grant this licence.
- If you believe material on the Platform infringes your rights, contact us with details and evidence so we can investigate and, where appropriate, remove or disable access.
6. Privacy & data
- Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how we use and share data. By using the Platform you agree to our data practices.
- You must only process personal data obtained via the Platform in compliance with UK data protection laws. Do not export or misuse Candidate/Customer data.
- We may send you service, security and transactional emails/SMS. You can manage marketing preferences in your account or via unsubscribe links.
7. Reviews & ratings
- Reviews must be fair, lawful and based on genuine experiences. We may remove reviews that contain abuse, personal data, discriminatory language, or unrelated allegations.
- To help maintain quality, we may request evidence or contact both parties before publishing or removing a review.
8. Liability & disclaimers
- The Platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free access, or specific outcomes such as successful hires or projects.
- To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all implied warranties and we will not be liable for any loss of profits, revenue, business, data, goodwill, or for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the Platform.
- Our total liability for all claims relating to the Platform in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of (a) £100 or (b) the total fees you paid to us in that period.
- Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under law. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are not affected.
9. Suspension & termination
- We may suspend or terminate your account (with or without notice) if you breach these Terms, fail to pay fees when due, or where required by law or to protect other users.
- You may close your account at any time. Closing your account does not entitle you to a refund for elapsed billing periods.
10. Third-party services
The Platform may link to third-party sites or services (e.g., GoCardless). We are not responsible for their content, terms or policies.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms occasionally. Material changes will be notified on the site or by email. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
12. Governing law & jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer laws give you the right to bring claims in your local courts.
